Indian Police Force movie

Entertainment Desk, New Delhi. Indian Police Force Web Series Review: Director Rohit Shetty, who started the Cop Universe with Mumbai Police through films like Singham, Simmba, and Sooryavanshi, has now ventured into the OTT space with the Indian Police Force. Rohit has chosen his tried-and-tested formula for his OTT debut, bringing a cop series to the platform.

Action is the predominant element in his films. Whether the film is a comedy or a thriller, action is Rohit’s signature style. Indian Police Force is also filled with stylish action scenes and chase sequences, but watching the series gives the feeling that Rohit is stuck in his own formulaic approach.

Indian Police Force appears outdated in terms of writing. The most disappointing aspect is the story, which doesn’t offer anything new. This time, Rohit has made the Delhi Police the hero of his story.

Before its release, the Indian Police Force (Indian Police Force) raises the expectations of being a better series on the level of writing.

What is the story of the Indian Police Force?

The series begins with serial bomb explosions in Delhi. The Joint CP of Delhi Police, Vikram Bakshi (Vivek Oberoi), and his team are investigating these explosions. DCP Kabir Malik (Sidharth Malhotra) is the energetic officer of Vikram’s team.

Gujarat ATS Chief Tara Shetty (Shilpa Shetty), along with her team, has come to Delhi to help in the investigation, which is in search of the culprits responsible for serial explosions that occurred in Ahmedabad before Delhi.

“Tara had intelligence that there could be a bomb blast in Delhi on January 26, but terrorists spread terror in Delhi after that date.

Connected to the Indian Mujahideen (IM) organization, terrorists have conspired to carry out serial blasts in major cities of the country. The mastermind behind this is Jaraar (Mayank Tandon), who takes directions from Rafiq, an Indian acolyte present in Iran.

Following the clues of serial blasts in Delhi, the police reach the terrorists and surround them in a house in Firoza Nagar. However, after a heavy exchange of gunfire, Jaraar and his younger brother Sikku manage to escape. In this fierce encounter, Vikram becomes a martyr.

After this, there are serial blasts in Jaipur as well. After the failure of the operation in Delhi, Kabir is removed from the force and assigned to clerical duties. However, Vikram, who considers Kabir his big brother, secretly investigates the Jaipur blasts and understands from the pattern that it is also the work of Jaraar.

Affected by Kabir’s investigation, Police Commissioner Jaydeep Bansal (Mukesh Rishi) brings Kabir back to the force. In the meantime, Delhi Police receives information that Sikku has been seen in Goa. Kabir is confident that Jaraar will also be in Goa. Subsequently, the Delhi and Gujarat police teams reach Goa.

Here, the team succeeds in preventing a major explosion. Sikku is killed, but Jaraar escapes again. The story ahead is based on a plan to catch Jaraar, who is preparing to escape to Iran through the Dakka route.

How is the series screenplay?

The Indian Police Force series credits renowned writer S. Hussain Zaidi for research. Zaidi has written books on the underworld and terrorist incidents in Mumbai. Based on Zaidi’s research, Rohit, along with his writing team (Sandip Saket, Anusha Nandkumar, Ayush Trivedi, Vidhi Ghodgankar, Sanchit Bedre), has written the story, screenplay, and dialogues.

The story of Indian Police Force revolves around the search for terrorists and their connections in Delhi, Azamgarh (UP), Kanpur (UP), Darbhanga (Bihar), Goa, Sundarbans (West Bengal), and Dhaka. The series mainly progresses on two tracks. The first track follows the search for the terrorist Jaraar by Delhi and Gujarat police teams, and the second track is Jaraar’s private life and love story, which is shown in detail.

“Both tracks are filled with clichés. The reason behind Jaraar becoming a terrorist, indoctrination by a religious guru in childhood, jihad for the community, connections with external forces—all these scenes seem familiar.

Meanwhile, DCP Kabir Malik tries to appease those promoting terrorism by taking advantage of the community’s sentiments. Neither the storyline nor the dialogues seem fresh.

When Kabir, angered by Vikram’s martyrdom in an encounter in Firoza Nagar, beats the captured terrorist Shadab, he says in anger that they are fighting for their community. In response, Kabir says that people like him pay the price for the entire community. A similar sequence comes in the climax when Jaraar challenges Kabir not to support his community. Kabir then explains to him in his own way what religion truly means.

The scene in Goa, where terrorist Sikku escapes the police trap, feels very light, even though it is an important sequence. The Dhaka operation does not create any excitement or tension between Kabir and Jaraar in the busy market and alleys.

How is the acting of the actors?

Rohit and Sushant Prakash have directed all episodes of the series. Directors have paid full attention to the style of all the main characters on the screen. From costumes to sunglasses, everything is meticulously designed. Regardless of the seriousness of the scene, all characters first put on aviator frames as soon as they come out.

The series has solid action. Siddharth Malhotra looks natural in fight sequences and investigates well. Rohit has kept the action close to reality in the series. Compared to his films, here, fewer people and cars fly around. Shilpa Shetty does not evoke the feeling of being the Gujarat ATS chief, but everything else is fine.”

“Vivek Oberoi fits well in the role of a philosophical-type police officer. The scenes of bonding between him and Siddharth look good.

In the character of IIM terrorist Jaraar alias Haider, Mayank Tandon performs his duties responsibly. Mayank has previously worked as an assistant in Rohit Shetty’s films, and this marks his acting debut. In this negative role of Jaraar, Mayank has not disappointed.

Another important character in the series is Nafisa Khan (Jaraar’s lover and wife), played by Vaidehi Parshurami. Vaidehi has successfully portrayed the innocence, vivacity, and pain of this character.

Seeing Mukesh Rishi as the Commissioner in Indian Police Force brings back memories of the scene from Sarfarosh where Inspector Salim Ahmed complains to Aamir Khan that he is being removed from the case because of his religion. However, here, Kabir does not have any such complaints, and there is no doubt about his patriotism.

In the last episode, Sharad Kelkar makes an entry. Although the mention of this character has been there in the conversations of Vikram, Tara, and Kabir before.

How is the Indian Police Force?

Rohit’s series offers a heartfelt tour of Delhi. The cinematography showcases views of almost all historical buildings in the capital. In almost every city sequence, aerial scenes are captured with similar camera movements and patterns.

The sequences in Jaipur, featuring the panoramic views of historical forts, look beautiful, but there is a sense of repetition.

Indian Police Force is an outstanding series in terms of its energy, style, and swagger. However, it lacks impact due to clichéd writing and character portrayal. If you are an action enthusiast, the series can be worth watching.
